About

Estudiolivre.org is a collaborative internet environment aimed at everyone interested in producing and sharing media made with free software.

The collective's primary goals are:
  1. Gather a community that researches all free software related with content creation (both to produce and help produce that content)
The idea is that the portal can become a reference for people who look for information on multimedia production using free software and that the site's users create content collaboratively.
  1. Promote the production and circulation of free culture (that is: all work that can legally be freely distributed, remixed, retransmitted, especially under a Creative Commons license).
For this to happen it is important that all users collaborate as much as possible, sharing their knowledge. And more, the site's gallery provides a place to exchange all kinds of media.

Everyone can edit the site's pages!

Yes, that's right! EstúdioLivre.org is a wiki, which means that any registered user can edit pages. Just notice that after you login an icon shows up on every page:

All you have to do is click it to change what is written on that page, you can: correct things, add links, add content and whatever else you might feel is necessary. You can also create new pages easily.

The concept behind 'Estúdio Livre'

Objectives

Estúdio Livre is a collaborative environment in constant development that has as its primary goal the creation of real and virtual spaces that stimulate the production, distribution and development of free media.

Tools

All of the tools found used in this environment are based on the concepts of free software, free knowledge and technological appropriation. The stimuli to interact with this environment are present through discussion list, workshops and events, research groups, this collaborative environment, blogs, downloadable media, software manuals, forums and other tools for collaborative work.

Actions

The group's work is only possible if individual actions take place so that the exchange of knowledge can be made possible. To help organize these actions, go here.

Who we are

People responsible

The collective responsible for maintaining and administrating the website, discussion lists, demands and all related information is composed of more experienced users, developers, musicians, videomakers and producers in general that have used free software for some time. This team also produces content and can be easily contacted. View previous activities promoted by the collective.

Costs

The project is maintained in a small degree by the collective's voluntary body. In a larger scale the project is maintained by its partners: the "Programa Software Livre Paraná" and the area responsible for Digital Culture? in the Ministry of Culture in Brasil ("Ministério da Cultura").

PSL-PR and MinC

The PSL-PR was the birthlace of the project and still manages some services of the network, the server and most of the site's development is maintained by the Digital Culture? team.

The goal of this last partnership is supporting the "Programa Cultura Viva" - "Pontos de Cultura": the Cultural Hotspots (or "Pontos de Cultura") around Brazil receive (or buy, depending on the case) a multimedia production kit, so in Estudiolivre.org they find documentation and support consistent with the large amount of information related with the use of free software and tools.

Use policy

As is the case with other websites, EstúdioLivre.org has a use policy. If you haven't read the latest version or can't remember a part of it, look again! If you want to check out the date of the last change look in the end of the page.
