Glossário

Efeito em tempo-real

Um efeito que pode ser ligado e desligado durante a execução de vídeos sem interrompê-la. no LiVES, são diferentes de efeitos renderizados.

LiVES usa o sitema de plugins Weed. Efeitos em tempo real podem ser acessados por atalhos.

Tecla de efeito

Através dos atalhos CTRL-0 a CTRL-9 podem-se ativar/desativar efeitos em tempo real. Existem também teclas virtuais que podem ser controlados remotamente ou através da janela "Mapeamento de Efeitos em Tempo-Real".

Modo

Cada tecla de efeito tem 8 modos, que podem ser preenchidos em ordem. Para mudar o modo: ative um efeito (CTRL-número), trave como efeito atual (K), mude o modo (M).

Generator

An effect with no inputs and one output.
Libvisual is a generator, other generators may be webcam intputs, fractal generators, etc.
In other applications, these can be referred to as "sources".

Transition

An effect with two inputs and one output.
Simple_blends in LiVES is a transition.

Filter

an effect with one input and one output. In LiVES, "alien_overlay" is a filter.

Foreground

this is the normal clip which is shown in the playback window. Realtime effects are applied to the
foreground frame only (unless otherwise set remotely)

Background

LiVES has a background frame when one or more transitions are active.

Ephemeral clip

Unlike other clips, an ephemeral clip is closed when it disappears from sight.
Libvisual generators are activated as ephemeral clips.

VJ set

O LiVES tem um recurso de salvar quais vídeos estão abertos para reabrir quando for necessário. Ele é bem util ao preparar apresentações. Você pode, depois de escolher os vídeos que quer usar, ir em "Arquivo > Fechar/Salvar Todos Clipes", para gravar os vídeos abertos e em "Arquivo > Recarregar Set" para todos de uma só vez.

Configurações

Algumas configurações podem facilitar a edição de vídeo em tempo-real. Em "Preferências > Execução" escolha o plugin SDL (ele só vai funcionar em tela cheia, em uma janela separada (antes de tocar aperte a tecla S seguido de F).

Efeitos em tempo real

Efeitos em tempo real são associados a teclas de maneira configurável. Cada tecla de 1 a 9 pode ser ativada em conjunto com a tecla CTRL (control). Cada tecla tem 8 modos (ver o glossário).

Para ver a associação das teclas na janela "Mapeamento de efeitos em tempo real" aperte CTRL+V ou vá no menu "VJ > Mapeamento de Efeitos em Tempo-Real".

Com alguns clipes carregados aperte P e mude de clipe algumas vezes com CTRL+PAGEUP ou CTRL+PAGEDOWN. Para ativar efeitos em tempo-real, aperto CTRL e uma tecla de número. Se você estiver usando o mapa de efeitos padrão (que vem com o LiVES) as teclas 8 e 9 contém efeitos diferenciados.

CTRL+8 faz mixagem de dois vídeos.




Ctrl-8 is "simple blends". You can see that simple blends occupies several Modes of one key. A key can have its modes changed, but only if it is the "current key".

A key can be made the current key by this process. The effect is switched on, and the 'k' key is pressed. so to make ctrl-8 the current key, we activate it (ctrl-8) and the grab it (k). Now modes can be switched for ctrl-8. This is done by pressing the 'm' key. The 'm' key means: "switch modes for the current key".

Pressing 'm' will cycle through all the modes of the current key. Some keys may have only one mode or no modes filled, so pressing 'm' when they are the current key will have no effect.

Pressing 'k' to grab an effect key as Current Effect, has another effect. It also ties one of its parameters to the ctrl-up, ctrl-down keys. These keys normally alter the framerate of a video, but when 'k' is pressed their function changes. Currently only some effects have parameters which can be altered.

Note:
You can also switch realtime effects on and off, change the currently grabbed key, and change the mode of a key in the realtime effects window (ctrl-v). You can also reassign effects, even when they are running. The only limitation is that you cannot assign generators and non-generators to different modes of the same key (since this can cause problems when the mode is switched). From the realtime window, you can also save an alternate default keymap, which will be reloaded each time you start up LiVES.

To return the ctrl-up/ctrl-down keys to changing the framerate, you can press ctrl-backspace (freeze), or ctrl-0 (all effects off). These keys also reset "current effect" to "none".

Another special feature of the "simple_blend" effect is that it is a "transition". That is, it takes two input frames and produces one output frame. When a transition is active as a realtime effect, then the ctrl-page-up, ctrl-page-down keys will change the *background* frame and not the foreground frame.

libvisual

If you have libvisual installed, these will be bound by default to key ctrl-9. Pressing ctrl-9 starts a libvisual generator. These are created as "ephemeral" clips, that is, when the generator disappears from site, it is deactivated. So to keep it in sight, you can do ctrl-9 (libvisual), followed by ctrl-8 (simple_blend) and then change the background clip using ctrl-page-up ctrl-page-down (since there is now a transition in effect). Or you can bring a libvisual into the background using ctrl-8, ctrl-9 and then swap it into the foreground using 'x' (swap background/foreground).

Different libvisual effects are auto-assigned to different key modes. So by pressing 'k' and then 'm' after ctrl-9, different libvisuals are selected. The libvisuals also react to music, provided your audio is setup to feed back through alsa (normally this means setting something to record in an audio mixer).
